Environmental Award

The success of the Environmental Printing Awards demonstrates that the industry genuinely cares about its impact on the environment.

Through its Environmental Printing Awards, PrintAction magazine, a monthly publication for the graphic communications industry, recognizes excellence in Canadian environmental stewardship across the print-based communications supply chain, from the progressive decisions by clients and agencies to the technological initiatives by printers and vendors.

Colour Innovations has again been honoured in 2009 for its environmental commitment by winning the Gold Award as the Most Environmentally Progressive Printer in Canada in its size category as well as the Gold Award for the Most Environmentally Progressive Service by a Printer.

The first Gold Award recognizes overall environmental responsibility in the manufacturing process, while the second Gold Award is for Colour Innovations' comprehensive Environmental Responsibility online resource.

Colour Innovations also won a Silver Environmental Printing Award in the Most Progressive Environmental Printing Project Electrophotography category for its digitally-printed "Lost in the Maze" environmental brochure.

Colour Innovations President Matthew Alexander said in his acceptance comments that he was proud of the awards and that Colour Innovations has been a champion of environmental responsibility since it became the first printer in Ontario to be EcoLogo CCD-041 TerraChoice-certified by the federal government in 1997.

Interviewed after the awards presentations, Matthew suggested that being green "is an attitude and to be successful, it has to become an integral part of a company's culture". Colour Innovations prides itself on having a vigorous environmental policy and staff who are committed to paying more than lip service to being green. "We walk the talk" said Matthew.
